A later mishap with toe varnish ( a training issue with one of her colleagues) was sorted out by Seema. Henna tattoo, also known as mehndi, is a traditional and artistic form of natural temporary body art that has been part of Indian and Pakistani culture for generations, especially for weddings and special occasions. At Seema’s Beauty Salon in Totton, we offer professional henna services for brides, families, celebrations, and also for clients who want to experience henna as a stylish temporary tattoo.
Bridal henna is one of our most popular services. Brides usually book their mehndi 1–2 days before the wedding so the colour develops deeply for the big day. Designs can be simple or highly detailed, covering hands, arms or feet, and are often personalised to reflect tradition, outfits and cultural preferences. Henna is commonly booked for weddings, engagements, mehndi nights, Eid celebrations and family functions.
For clients who may be new to henna, it’s important to know that henna is a plant-based, skin-safe temporary tattoo. Unlike permanent tattoos, it fades naturally within 1–2 weeks, making it ideal for parties, festivals, holidays or anyone who wants body art without commitment. This makes henna especially popular with English clients and teenagers looking for something fun, fashionable and different.
We also provide party and festival henna, perfect for birthdays, celebrations and social events. Our artists guide you on design choice, placement and aftercare to help achieve the best colour and longest-lasting result.
Many clients choose to combine henna with other treatments such as Body Massage in Totton, Body Waxing or Facials during the same visit.
If you’re looking for henna tattoo in Totton or Southampton, whether for a wedding, cultural occasion or a temporary tattoo experience, we’re here to help.

Temporary (fades naturally)
1. Keep the Paste On for 4–6 Hours (or Longer)
The longer you leave the henna paste on, the darker and deeper the stain will be. Some clients even leave it on overnight.
2. Let It Dry Naturally
Allow the henna to air-dry completely. Avoid smudging, touching, or cracking the paste.
3. Seal for Better Results (Optional)
Dab a lemon juice and sugar mixture over the dried paste to keep it moist and intensify the colour.
4. Gently Scrape Off the Paste
Once fully dry, rub off the paste gently with your fingers or a blunt object. Avoid using water to remove it.
5. Avoid Water Contact for 24 Hours
Let the stain oxidise and darken. Avoid handwashing, showers, swimming, or applying any products to the area.
6. Keep the Area Warm
Heat intensifies the stain. Try to keep your hands or feet warm post-application for better results.
🚫 Don’t Wash with Water Immediately
Washing too soon can weaken the stain and prevent it from developing fully.
🚫 No Soap, Shampoo, or Lotion
Avoid all products on the area for at least 24 hours to preserve and deepen the colour.
🚫 Avoid Scrubbing or Exfoliating
This can fade the stain quickly and damage the design.
🚫 No Chlorine or Swimming Pools
Stay out of pools and hot tubs for 24–48 hours — chlorine fades henna faster.
